The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) connects classroom, campus and community to promote a more just and humane world. Whether you are a student, staff, or faculty, the CCE is here to help you find opportunities to serve and learn in the community. The Center sustains partnerships with a wide variety of community-based organizations and nonprofits throughout the Seattle area that are always seeking volunteers. LBST 2020: Teaching and Learning in Diverse Classrooms explores education in urban schools and is designed for students who are considering a career in teaching or a youth-work related field. Students will be introduced to: culturally relevant pedagogy, trauma informed practice, learning theories, learning disabilities, and immigrant education. This is a service-learning course and will meet at Bailey Gatzert Elementary. More info.
