For Hollis Wong-Wear, spoken word was an interest—not a career path. But an encouraging professor convinced her to explore outside her comfort zone—advice that led to connections within the Seattle hip-hop scene. Most notably, with artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The collaboration earned several Grammy nominations.


MBA, Albers School of Business and Economics

Pursuing an MBA is a lot of work. Terren Drake expected that. What he didn’t expect was the resounding support from Seattle U’s faculty, counselors and alumni he found in the Albers School of Business and Economics. Support and connections leading Terren to an MBA Associate position at PACCAR Financial.

Lorena González, ’05

Juris Doctor, School of Law

The daughter of immigrant farmers, Lorena González grew up watching unjust treatment of workers and crop-dusters using pesticides, which drifted into her family’s farm. This fueled a desire to fight back. Through SU’s School of Law, she received an education that turned her passion into action. She is now Counsel to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and gives minorities a voice—hers.
